All teas come from the tea plant, Camellia Sinensis. The character of each tea is determined by which variety of the tea plant it came from, the region it was grown in, and the way it was processed after harvest.
Rooibos (pronounced ROY-bos), also sometimes called red tea, is technically not a tea at all but may be referred to as a tea because of the steeping process used to make it. It is made from the leaves of a broom-like bush native to South Africa and is naturally caffeine-free.
Herbal teas, like rooibos, are not actually teas but infusions that are known as tisanes. Most herbal teas are also inherently caffeine-free.
Black teas undergo the longest oxidation process before drying, giving them a deep color and complex flavor. Black teas have a high caffeine content, equal to a bit less than half that of coffee.

Empire Keemun (English Breakfast) – Origin: China
“The Burgundy of tea”. Medium-bodied, deep rich flavor with notes of malt and smoke.
Yorkshire Gold – Origin: India, Kenya, Rwanda
Full-bodied with a dark, rich, malty flavor.
Oolong teas are less oxidized than black teas, but more oxidized than green teas, giving them a perfect balance of lightness and complexity.
Golden Osmanthus – Origin: China
Medium-bodied with a distinct fresh floral flavor and aroma.
While generally lighter in color and flavor than black teas, there is a huge range of character to be found between the different varieties of green tea. Green tea typically has about half the caffeine content of black tea.
Dragonwell – Origin: China
Medium-bodied with a pleasantly toasty, nutty flavor.
Gunpowder – Origin: China
Full-bodied with a lightly smoky flavor.
Houjicha – Origin: Japan
Deep roasted flavor and color with hints of caramel. Low caffeine content.
Sencha – Origin: Japan
Medium-bodied with a lightly earthy, sweet flavor and hints of citrus.
White Eagle – Origin: China
Full-bodied with mild astringency, notes of honey and orchid.
White teas are dried without any additional oxidation or processing. They consist only of young leaves and buds of the Camellia Sinensis plant. They have the highest concentrations of antioxidants and the lowest concentrations of caffeine.
